WHAT TO WEAR

Outfit tips for family, maternity,
portrait and Christmas sessions

Our studio is full of soft natural light, warm neutral sets and arch backdrops. A little planning with outfits makes your photos look calm, timeless and beautifully put together.

THE GOLDEN RULES

Solid colours or soft, simple patterns. Avoid big logos, slogans, characters, neon and tiny busy prints – thin stripes and small checks can shimmer on camera.

Pick a palette, not a uniform. Choose 2–3 colours that go together rather than everyone wearing exactly the same.

Texture adds life. Knits, linen, cotton, denim, satin and soft wool all photograph beautifully.

Wear what fits and feels like you. Comfortable people look relaxed in photos.

Iron or steam everything and bring outfits on hangers.

Don’t forget shoes – clean and simple, or bare feet for little ones.

FAMILY & MATERNITY

Colours that love our studio

Cream, ivory, beige, camel, soft brown, sage, dusty blue, blush and denim – neutrals glow in our natural light and match our sets.

Families

Start with one person’s outfit and build everyone else’s colours around it – for example, a cream dress, a beige shirt with jeans, and the kids in white, sage or soft blue.

Avoid everyone in all-white or all-black – a little variety looks richer.

Bring a spare outfit for little ones, plus snacks, wipes and a favourite toy.

Maternity

Choose pieces that show off your bump: fitted or stretchy maxi dresses, or an open shirt over a bralette. Flowy, floor-length dresses look stunning on our arch sets.

Partners look great in neutral shirts or knitwear with well-fitting jeans or chinos. A simple white shirt and jeans makes a timeless second look.

Classic Family & Maternity sessions include two outfits – bring both!

PORTRAITS & HEADSHOTS

Solid, mid-tone colours work best – navy, burgundy, emerald, camel, soft grey, dusty pink.

Well-fitted clothes with clean necklines. A blazer or jacket instantly looks professional for LinkedIn and company profiles.

Bring 2–3 options – a smart look, a relaxed look, and a colour you love.

Keep jewellery simple – one statement piece is plenty.

Glasses? Bring them if you wear them daily – anti-glare lenses help.

Hair & make-up: natural and polished; a little matte powder helps with shine.

CHRISTMAS MINI SESSIONS

Festive, cosy colours – cream, burgundy, forest green, camel, gold and soft red look beautiful on our Christmas set.

Knitwear is perfect – jumpers, cardigans and knit dresses.

Matching Christmas pyjamas are fun and photograph really well!

Keep patterns simple – one tartan or festive print per family looks great.

Up to 6 people are included, so coordinate everyone’s colours.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

The studio is on the first floor, up two flights of stairs – if you’re bringing heels, you can change at the studio.

There’s a changing area for outfit changes.

Give clothes a quick lint roll and do a final hair touch-up.

Arrive 5–10 minutes early so you’re relaxed when we start.
